About us
Our History
The Charlbury Exhibition Foundation traces its origins to 1667, when Anne Walker endowed land to fund education in Charlbury. Over the centuries, this legacy evolved through grammar schooling, higher education support, and today a broader commitment to education and training for young people under 25 living in the parish.

The Foundation was formally established in 1909, bringing together historic charitable assets including the Old Grammar School and Poor Boy’s Close. While the educational landscape has changed, the purpose has remained consistent: supporting those most in need.

Our Purpose
To promote education, training, and personal development for young people in Charlbury by providing financial assistance and specialist educational support.

Trustees
The Trustees of the Charlbury Exhibition Foundation are committed to safeguarding a charitable legacy that has supported local young people for over 350 years. We are responsible both for the careful stewardship of the Foundation’s historic assets and for ensuring that our resources are used effectively to support education and training for those most in need in Charlbury.

As volunteer trustees, we bring a range of experience and perspectives, working collectively to apply the Foundation’s funds fairly, transparently, and in line with its charitable purpose. Our focus is on sustaining the Foundation for the long term, while ensuring it continues to make a practical and meaningful difference to young people in our community today.
